Hit coventry tonite from 515-715 and all i can say is wow! Actually when 9/11/01 happened i was fishing there and go back every year on 9/11...dont know why i guess a sort of "tribute" the those who lost their lives on that day.
Anyway, winds out of nw 5-15 w gusts, partly sunny, water temp 71 deg. Caught 10 bass,4 smallies/6 largies. Fish were caught between 6-18 f/o/w on jigs, grubs and spinnerbaits. tried buzzbaits, senkos and spook jr to no avail. What made this trip sepcial was a 3 pound smallie who put on quite an arial show and a 6.1 pound largie that may have been the strongest fight i have ever had from a largie(and i have caught numerous 7plus pound largies in my lifetime). the weird thing was they were caught on the same bait in the axact same spot.(14ish feet ,grass line, inside edge.)Caught on a jig dragged and hop combo presentation. Two of the other fish where 2 lb class both caught on a spinnerbait. All in all a pretty good trip for 2 hours. Econ police was at the ramp handing out tix.

Nice report, JS. That's a fantastic haul for such a short time on the water (I didn't think it's possible to fish for only 2 hours.) I see a lot of people are using spinnerbaits in this gusty weather lately...my buddy caught scads of fish on white/chartreuse spinnerbaits at Breakneck last week, and I did considerably poorer using my frog and other soft plastics. I spent a few hours at Moodus throwing the spinnerbait Friday and got skunked. Definitely not one of my confidence lures.
I've been thinking about hitting Morey and Coventry very soon (never been to either.) What's the bottom composition of Coventry like? It can't be as bad as Moodus if you're using jigs.
