rainbow res 9/28

first off i'd like to say i am amped about going out {possibly} this sunday and getting me some beastly pike after all the posts i see of everybody catching them some big pike, after work yesterday i headed to my buddys house which is right on rainbow to give him some money i owed him. We ended up deciding to go throw a line out, after all rainbow is his backyard. The res is extrememly shallow because they are repairing the dam so we literally walked out to the old ruins of the old dam. We fished for an hour or so, and he caught 4 largemouths and a pig of a smallie {didnt get to weigh or measure anything}. I caught 3 largemouths,1 largie was at least 2 lbs or more and the other two were decent sized. I also caught a pig of a smallmouth that seemed like it was at least 3 lbs. Its so shallow that all of the fish are condensed to certain areas.

It's still drawn down, huh?

Could you get close to the new dam? Wouldn't a lot of the remaining fish be concentrated down there? With all of this rain and wind, I might head up there to take a peek. Or I could go to Cabelas. Tough call.

i cant speak of the new dam and you could be right about fish being concentrated there. But i can speak of the old dam and i can say with certainty that there is a very healthy population of largies/smallies around there. The getting is very good there right now, I mean i was catching largemouth bass in the middle of rapids with a spinnerbait. I myself vote for cabelas as i will be going there to replace my war eagle spinnerbait that the smallmouth i caught yesterday absolutely distroyed as soon as im done with this post and shower.
