Saugatuck Reservoir

I kow it is getting late in the season but really like the idea of fishing later. It is going to start getting cold, and as I usually fish by myself I was thinking of getting a permit to fish the SR. My question is does anyone who has fished there reccomened it? Or should I just pass? I was thinking about being able to fish until Thanksgiving so I would guess I would make at least 3 trips there for the $28. Any advice would be helpful as I have never fished there before, and know I am limited to fishing from shore.
