Sagatauck Reservoir Oct.30

Well I did not get out at all last weekend, with family stuff, daughters soccer game, church. I stopped in a local bait shop and ponied up the $25 for a Saugatuck Res. permit. I got there a bit after 4pm. I was not sure at all where to go, since I never fished there before, and have only just driven by it.
First off the colors on the trees were amazing in itself. I saw a couple guys shore fishing, which is all you can do there. So I went a little ways up the shore from them. I had a feeling it was not going to be an easy time. There was a decent amount of wind, and once the sun started dropping behind the trees got pretty cold. After about 45 minutes of casting with not so much as a hit I packed up and decided to try another spot. I was throwing a Rapala perch crankbait, and rapala silver/black topwater, and a wacky rigged pumpkin senko. I was heading back to the car parked up on the road. I got to thinking that the guys were set up right by a little bridge. I figured well ok, I will just go on the other side. Well it was actually dry in between, but the other side was completely wind free and the water like glass. I do pretty well with topwaters so after hiking down I made it to the shore. The mud and loose rocks made it slippery. I made a few casts into some areas where I was seeing rings. Nothing for about 15 minutes. At this point I am thinking I am going to get skunked for just the 2nd time this year.
Just as I am ready to call it a day, I hear and see a huge fish jump out of the water. I run down the shore even further and cast in that direction. First cast bam! I have no idea what is on, but it hit hard. Im reeling, and fighting this thing and almost have it to cose enough to shore where I can net it. Its a walleye! Exactly what I was there looking for. I need about two more feet and I can net it. And just like that it was off. I was devastated. So I immeadiately cast again, and get an instant hit, but this time it got spit out right away.
I'm thinking the reservior is either down, or they lowered it, but there wee at least one or two nice walleye on that side. Needless to say I will be going back. Maybe even first thing in the morning.

Ouch! I feel for you. I'm also eager to get a couple of walleye before the end of the season. Not $25 eager, but eager nonetheless. I'm not done with Batterson yet! :D
Which bait did the walleye hit?
