Private Pond 10/31
Message:
Daryl and I fished a small private pond today. I can't say which pond, because there's no public access to it. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure that it has a name. But I can't say where it is, either. Daryl did a lot of legwork last week to get permission for us to check it out. Sorry about the "Pond X" thing. I just wanted to report that the only lure that worked for us today was a wacky rigged Senko, fished very slowly on the bottom. I used both five inch and four inch green pumpkin/red flake Senkos. Daryl used four inch blue pearl/black hologram Senkos. The fish would pick up the Senkos off of the bottom. We caught 20 largemouth bass, but they were all small, ranging from 9 inches to 14 inches. They were all healthy looking, but they were all skinny. I never pulled out my scale, but am certain that even the 14 inchers weighed under one pound. Here are some photos: [img:41c8859b6c]http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6761/1031100906corrected.jpg[/img:41c8859b6c] [img:41c8859b6c]http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9303/1031100918corrected.jpg[/img:41c8859b6c] [img:41c8859b6c]http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6888/1031101315corrected.jpg[/img:41c8859b6c] Oh, and although all of the bass looked healthy, a couple had old bite marks on them from larger fish and one of them had these weird red things in its mouth that looked like worms, but might have been blood vessels: [img:41c8859b6c]http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8967/1031101313corrected.jpg[/img:41c8859b6c] Does anyone know what those red things are? In any case, even though we didn't catch any lunkers, it was a blast catching lots of healthy fish. It's been a while since I caught more than 10 fish in an outing.

Nice job guys! Looks like you had fun. That does look like some sort of worm on that bass.

Way to get out there, guys. You could just call it a private pond and avoid the whole lake x altogether. Catching 20 bass is fun no matter what size they are.
