molding plexiglass

Have a friend building a mid 1970s 17ft race boat with a outboard, I guess hes getting into a drag club???Anyway, Ive been working on trying to get him a smoke windshield for this boat, and finally I got it, I call my buddy in Florida that does custom hot rod building and he told me to make one, he walked me through the process, and its really simple, it was just a matter of making a mold(out of wood), heating the plexi glass to 250degrees, covering the mold with a cotton fabric and draping the very warm plexi glass over the mold, then molding it onto the mold with my hands, make sure you wear cotton gloves, you have about 5 minutes to work with it, I guess depending on the thickness, anyway, I am going to try to make a new glove box door for my stratos, cause its cracked, I will see how that comes out, then maybe I will try my windshields, so any of you guys that cant find a hatch cover, windshield or want to make a custum piece its really simple to do, and you can buy plexiglass in alot of semi transparent colors, not just smoke. And its fairly cheap.
