I beet the skunk
Message:
Went to the thompson dam on 11/22, water temp was 43deg with a light breeze, i saw a few fish on the bottom and a lot of them suspended on my electronics off the deepest point in the lake. So i spent a good amount of time working that area, I threw deep diving x-raps with varying pauses, and a storm wiggle ward 8-12ft diving crank bait without any bites, but I have a good feeling that a lot of the fish i was seeing on the fish finder were bass because i puled one 13in smallie out at the same spot shortly after on a float and fly with the fly 10ft from the bobber, so it was suspending around the same depth as the fish marked on my finder. I went to another deeper spot ,16ft where the water drains into the river and picked up a 10in perch on a 3in 1/4oz purple blue fleck berkley power tube and a few minuets later i had the biggest perch iv'e ever seen come off right at the boat, it looked about 14in long and had a good size belly, definitely pushing 1lb. I usually don't care for catching perch but i was actually disappointed when that one came off. So it was a slow day for me on the water but still nice to get out, at least i avoided the skunk .
