Ponds Vs. Lakes
Message:
A question for all you bass guys out there: Do you prefer Ponds or Lakes when you're bass fishing, when I say ponds I mean like farm ponds and little bodies of water vs. a larger lake/resivoir/etc? I guess I'm just lazy and don't trailer a boat around with me, EVER, so I find ponds to provide way more action and fun for me than dealing with a lake. The ponds are small enough to hit from the shore almost everywhere you want to be, there's usually nobody else there, and chances are they recieve far less fishing pressure. I find my more frustrating days come on larger lakes where I'm just out of my element. Granted, I guess fishing in a pond is kinda like wading in the kiddie pool, anybody can do it, right? I enjoy the river as well, but only on the weekdays when there's nobody else there. I enjoy the quietness of it and other people (no offense to anybody) kinda screw it up for me. I can have a perfectly happy day alone on the river w/o catching a thing, and conversely have a good day of fishing destroyed by mobs of people trying to re-enact A River Runs Through It. If I come to the river and there's somebody fishing remotely nearby, chances are I'll leave, and leave them in peace hoping that maybe they might return the favor in the future, but it almost always seems like they never do. Whoa... sorry for the rant!

Sevnseat, I prefer both as each one serves me a purpose. When I am tight on time and like you don't want to drag the boat out, then I will fish the little farm ponds, etc. But when I am itching to get out and fish alot of water in as many different types of structure/cover as possible then I will take my 22 footer out and make a long day of it. I agree with you 100% that little bodies of waters probably don't get as much fishing pressure like the big waters do but you can only fish so much of a little pond in a 8-10 hour fishing day. At least with the big rivers and resevoirs you could not possibly fish all the spots you would like to in a day and that's what I like about it. You basically have unlimited options on where to fish. But like you said in order to have that benefit you have to put up with the other fishermen and the crazy pleasure boaters.
