Question about killies

I know they are abundant in the marsh during warm months. Do they stick around anywhere in the winter??? If not, are there any other baitfish around that i could catch in a conventional minnow pot??? Thinking of picking some up and hitting the saugatuck river in westport to try for any searun trout while i have bait on the bottom for tommy cod which I'm also going to try for. Thanks....

they are in the mud. and generally don't pot well until mid to late spring.
