Spring Pond 03/20

To celebrate the first day of Spring, jonnyfly00 (aka Jon), his girlfriend Kaitlin and I fished Spring Pond. When we got on the water at 12:45 pm, it was sunny outside and the air temperature was in the low 40s, but there was very little wind. The water level in the pond is about four feet higher than it is during the Summer. I pedaled The Other Woman, while Jon paddled Rufus and Kaitlin paddled El Habaņero. I was determined to stay away from the wacky Senko, so I had a perch Rapala stickbait and a River2Sea Bottom Walker swimbait tied onto my two rods: [img:67f2188296]http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1473/20110320springpond.jpg[/img:67f2188296] However, after an hour of NOTHING, I caved in and tied on an octopus circle hook with a wacky five inch green pumpkin/red flake Senko. We covered the entire pond and couldn't find the fish. My fish finder didn't mark a single fish all day. However, at 3:15 pm, I spotted several carp in what are normally shallows to the north and west of the north island. After I told Jon that I had finally spotted some fish and he paddled over, I felt a tick on my Senko. I said to Jon, "I wonder whether I almost caught a snag or actually got a nibble." When I started reeling in the line, it started pulling back and I landed a healthy looking 13 inch largemouth bass. While it was a solid little fish, I'm pretty sure that it was male because it wasn't very chunky. I hope that Jon got a photo of it. Cots6 (aka Mason) showed up right when I caught the bass. Although he recently picked up a new kayak, he neglected to get a PFD, so he was fishing from the shore: [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvnEE5fODgw[/youtube] Unfortunately, we didn't see another fish for the rest of the day. Fortunately, though, it was a beautiful day to be out on the water. I can't wait to get back out there.

Hi Guys! Yeah! Water is still a bit cold. Glad though you got out -> beautiful day to be on the water :!: Didn't take you long Phil to fall off the wagon and go back to a Senko! :lol: :lol: :lol: SeaDog1 :mrgreen:
