Howdy! Just Moved to New Haven

Hi all - Just moved to New Haven from Wisconsin. I was a fly fisherman on the trout streams in WI and looking forward to picking up some tips and expanding my horizons a bit. Already have picked up some great tips so thanks to all the posters in the community! Maybe someone can help me out. I live in Fairhaven right off the Quinnipiac River. I am looking to do some fishing from the shore, but have never bait cast or spin cast :( I guess my questions are what type of fish are in this section of the QP river and can anyone make a suggestion on rod/reel, baits to use? Sorry in advance if this is not the right place to ask, but I'm a little out of my element :) Thanks again for all of the good information and looking forward to being part of the community!

Welcome... Funny, I met a guy last year on the duck hunting forum that moved here from WI also. I think you will find that stripers and blues are most commonly chased. Check out the DEP website and angler guide; CT actually puts a lot of good info in there.
