Silver Lake, Berlin 6/6
Message:
Went out on Silver Lake yesterday afternoon (about 5 - 7:30). Caught 9 LMB and 2 Pickerel. Everything was well off shore in around 4 - 6 feet of water. The bass were hitting a red 5"(?) YUM craw, texas rigged, and the Pickerel hit my spinner (Spinners on Silver Lake are probably not the greatest idea due to the abundance of weeds, but I like to run em' along edges and patches of deeper holes. I honestly doesn't get snagged too much). The best 3 or 4 bass were modest, like two-pounders. I've fished that lake for 4 years and Ive never had a bass over 4 lbs. I'm wondering what others have to say about this place? Have any of you gotten into some bigger bass here? Last friday I landed a decent channel cat, 14+ inches, definitely in pre-spawn condition. All the bass yesterday appeared to be post spawn.

I used to live in Berlin and have fished this lake at least 100 times. I have pulled a 5 lber out of there and a couple around 4lbs as well. The big fish are in their but they are far and few between. My buddy actually pulled the biggest fish of his life out of silver lake. I was not with him but from the pics it looked to be around 7lbs. Im a tournament angler and I know my weights pretty well and this thing was huge. Im not a huge fan of the place but considering I was so close to it, I fished it a bunch. It was always a good place to go for a few hours because I would usually catch a bunch of fish, but most were in the 12" range and now and again I would get a bigger one. I have heard of a few smaller tournaments at Silver and usually the winning weight is between 5-7lbs. Check out the route 9 ponds with a rowboat! A pain to drag the boat but you can catch a ton of fish and good ones at that! Good luck!
