Keeney Cove 6/13
Message:
Decided to spend my lunch hour at Keeney Cove today since the sun was out. Point Rd is finally above water as of last week so I can head over there if I feel like a quick trip. I was casting from Point Rd. and ended up catching this 18" 2lb 7oz LMB close to some rocks with some weed cover. It looks pretty beat up and is possibly a skinny post spawn female with black spot and a lamprey wound. Put up an OK fight for its condition. Released it and it swam off fine. 5" watermelon senko was working, golden shiner colored lipless crank wasn't. I didn't see any other fish today.

WOW! That poor Bass sure looks beat up !
Glad to see she swam off fine -> But can she survive the rest of the year in that condition ?

I'm not sure. I think black spot is just a pigment problem and not actually life threatening but don't quote me on that. Now that the lamprey is gone I'm sure that wound will heal up and she was working on the skinny part by trying to eat my worm so that's a good sign. Hopefully she'll be fine but you never know.
