Moodus Reservoir - Upper 06/21
Message:
I fished Moodus Reservoir for the first time ever with Daryl (aka Daryl) and TurtleKiss (aka Kira). We stayed in the upper reservoir. I paddled my new Future Beach Trophy 126 fishing kayak. Daryl paddled his own Trophy 126 and Kira motored around in Dinghbat (i.e., her trolling motor powered dinghy). We got on the water just before 6:00 am and were off the water by 3:15 pm. It was warm and sunny, and there was very little wind all day. Although this was my first time on the reservoir, I could tell from the water line on a culvert that the water level is two feet lower than normal. I had a silver shallow shad Rapala SSR-7 tied on, but soon discovered that the reservoir was too shallow and weedy for it. So I tied on a wacky rigged five inch green pumpkin/red flake Senko and landed my first fish on the first cast with it: [img:cf92777aa3]http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/7425/img0621corrected.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] I ended up landing 21 largemouth bass, all but one of which came on the wacky Senko. Here are the last 20: [img:cf92777aa3]http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9474/img0622c.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/5743/img0623go.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8060/img0624j.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/5853/img0625z.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] [img:cf92777aa3]http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2474/img0626yv.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img860.imageshack.us/img860/9810/img0627v.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/9959/img0628k.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/1717/img0629cu.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] [img:cf92777aa3]http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/4017/img0631fp.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/7828/img0633tb.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8507/img0634bl.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/6631/img0637uz.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] [img:cf92777aa3]http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/5489/img0639c.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/5976/img0640ol.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7405/img0641kr.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6839/img0642wc.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] [img:cf92777aa3]http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2741/img0643nv.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/8950/img0644b.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/9858/img0645f.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3][img:cf92777aa3]http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/9117/img0646rk.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] I got a 2-1/4 pounder on a Texas rigged 10 inch swirly tail worm. But the fish of the day was a 20 inch, 3-1/2 pounder: [img:cf92777aa3]http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/3663/img0637corrected.jpg[/img:cf92777aa3] It was my first bass over three pounds this year. Whoo hoo!
