Check out this prehistoric fish

I went fishing on the Yellowbird party boat http://www.yellowbirdfishing.com/ out of Hampton Beach, NH, with DirtyDawg10 (aka Derek) and his brothers yesterday. Derek's little brother Isaac landed this prehistoric monster:

It looked like the marine version of a snakehead or bowfin. Captain Rick identified it as a cusk. Per Captain Rick, "They're good eatin'!"

That's a pretty neat catch. According to wikipedia they are a Threatened Species but I'm not sure what the regs are on them.

I read that there's a commercial harvest on them. Captain Rick is very professional. He's a professional smartass to be sure :roll: , but still very professional. I'm sure that he wouldn't have let Isaac keep it if it weren't legal. I have a feeling that the visit to the Yellowbird by the New Hampshire Marine Patrol at the the end of the trip was [i:b70d442280][b:b70d442280]not[/b:b70d442280][/i:b70d442280] an unusual occurrence:

We just told the Marine Patrol officers that Kira wasn't with us and they motored away. :wink:
