Batterson Park Pond 7-1-11

Didn't have to work today so I was able to get a few hours in at the pond. Fished from 3:30 to 6:30 PM. Skies were partly overcast and temp was in the 80s. It was an absolutely gorgeous day out there other than the wind which just seems to always be ever so present at BPP and always blowing in the opposite direction of where you want to go. I tried out a few different patterns and techniques and lost a few fish trying to drop shot, didn't pick anything up on curly tail grubs or senkos today. Looked like again the hot item was the Rapla silver minnow. I caught a few perch and a spunky little LMB on it. The bass I caught was under a foot long but he flew out of the water 3 times and gave some crazy head shakes. Nice! I was out there last night with Mark and I think we might have passed you when you were on your way in. We got there between 5 and 5:30. I caught one of everything except for a largemouth. A walleye, yellow perch, white perch and two rock bass. The wind died down after the sun started to go down and the lake was like glass. It was a nice night to be out and we even had a few fireworks after dark. The bite wasn't great. Between the two of us Mark landed the only largemouth after dark on a frog.
