25 Bass Day
Message:
Hit Bashan on Tuesday 7/19 with Jay, who's a fellow teacher. The weather was bluebird skies, temps in the mid/upper 80's, the was a nice breeze (8/10 mph) out of the north most of the day which made for a nice day temps wise. Water temps were in the low 80's. On the water by 8:00 off the water at 2:00. We started right at the no wake buoy and a couple of mooring balls that were near it and immediately landed 4 fish. We moved from their out to a set of docks on the left hand side and picked up one more. From their we made our way out to the island and fished the left (house) side from point to point twice and picked up a couple more. We then moved to the other side of the island and fished up to the point were we hooked into a few more. After that we had lunch and then did some cruising with the Humminbird 997 side scan looking for a spot my son-in-law told me about. Not sure we ever found it, I'm gonna probably need the GPS coordinates. biggrin From there we moved out to the large flat to the left of the dam area and fished that outter weedline for a couple of passes which is where we caught the remaining fish including these two which were our best of the day, my 16" and Jay's 15". My 16" [img:2f0e49af70]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=13768[/img:2f0e49af70] Jay's 15" [img:2f0e49af70]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=13766[/img:2f0e49af70] Size for the day wasn't bad of the 25 fish we caught, 19 were keepers and there were a few in the 14"+ range as opposed to the typical Bashan cookie cutter 12"ers. All fish were in 10+ feet of water on the outter weededge and were caught using a drop shot with a zoom finesse worm in black grape color. 6 hours and 25, that's why I love fishing Bashan!
