Subject:
Candlewood 8/2 (first time out as a CT Fisherman, advice?)
Message:
Went out on my first fishing trip in CT since I moved out here. Live in Norwalk and don't know any spots, so I thought I would checkout Lake Candlewood.
Have no boat so Did some shore fishing by the neighboring pond. Was throwin some Senko's, 7" Watermelon Powerbaits and Rapalas not knowing what the bass respond to out here (I am from Iowa).
Fished from 11-4 and only had about 3 strikes. Discouraging to say the least, but at least I was back getting the feel of things with my bait caster. Basically just stayed in the shallows around fallen trees and brush. Saw some sizable bass just swimming around the top, but no action on buzz baits or poppers.
Any advice on what works well on the lakes out here for largemouth?
Also, any known spots around Norwalk/ Stamford so I don't have to drive up to Danbury? Was really hoping to find some closer spots so I could get in some action before work on the weekdays. If not, what are some solid spots in general for largemouth.
Keep in mind, I'm restricted to shore fishing
Cheers

I live in Norwalk as well, and when I don't feel like loading up the kayak I go to the Sagatuck Reservoir.

From the shore, throw a soft plastic frog over any beds of weeds or lilies that you can reach.
