Gardner Lake - 8/20
Message:
Went out to Gardner lake this morning from 7am to 1:30p. There was a tournament there today so it was a bit tough. Water was super warm. I tried pretty much every spot in the lake and got some nibbles. Went to a few little coves within the lakes off to the side. I threw a ribbit horny toad over the weeds and lilys and got about 5-6 hits but I wasn't able to hook them :-(. One of them was huge it came outside the water. My buddy just missed a pickerel as well. I used a ewg hooked weedless. My third straight time going out getting skunked...been very frustrating lately. At least there was some action. Felt like posting this in case someone had some tips or ideas. I need to break this bad streak.

Maybe with all the short strikes you could employ a stinger hook or slowing the retrieve a bit. Just my .02.
Better luck.

I might have to slower the retrieve. I saw some frog hooks that I wanted to try out at Cabelas. I think I hid the hook too much on the frog thats why it didnt hook as well. It was a nice size Bass too....topwater lures are starting to become fun I never used them before really.
Thanks for the advice, I will check out that hook.
