Lake Drawdowns?
Message:
Can anyone explain to me why they "drawdown" lakes for the winter? Is it because of flooding of some sort? I never really paid attention to it before ..... I was reading the DEP Fishing Report this morning and saw this.. "In eastern CT, “Winter” drawdowns of Bashan Lake, Beseck Lake, Gardner Lake, Lower Bolton Lake, Middle Bolton Lake, Pickerel Lake, Hopeville Pond, Ashland Pond, Billings Lake and Mashapaug Lake have begun or will begin soon." On a side note I cant believe I am already hearing the word "winter"...not looking forward to winter it feels like spring and summer just got here! And on top of it, I am going to have to winterize my boat...ugh! I don't really ice fish and I am not sure if I am interesting in freezing my butt off...then again all my friends do it so maybe I just might have to this coming winter.

There are many reasons for winter draw downs, weed control, dock maintenance, and repairs to dams or bridges. The most common is weed control. on the up side of things moodus is at full pool now.
