SNAFU 7/21

Went out late Saturday to the race for some night eel drifting with Marco, Joe and Pops.
Arrived at sundown and started drifting over Valiant reef on the far Western side away from most of the other boats. Marco picked up a 30" striper right away on a live eel. Joe had major reel issues (grinding gears) on the first drift so he retired his rod fished with the backup rod.
Dead calm out there and not a whole lot of boats for a Saturday night, which was nice change of pase. Witnessed a very nice fireworks show from McCooks Beach, Niantic.
Joe had the big boy of the night with a fat 44". When the bass was hooked he thought he had snagged the bottom as the fish refused to budge. After a short stay at the bottom Joe was finally able to leverage him up where he had a nice long fight until netted.
Ended up with 4 bass from 30-44" thanks to Marco & Joe, Pops and I had not even a hit for the entire night.

Nice!
That sounds like fun. One of these days I'll do it on my boat.
