Subject:
Stratford: blues still biting...
Message:
My personal kayak being an open top native ultimate, when I fish saltwater I usually borrow my girlfriend's perception which is still not ideal for certain conditions. Last Friday, I was fishing in three foot swells off Long Beach in Stratford, drifting, not by choice, but because the wind was so strong. Ended up landing this 13lb blue on a mackerel tail about 5 minutes into it, and played it on light tackle for about 5 to 8 minutes before I was able to land it. It was my first BIG blue from a kayak, so it was quite an experience, especially when I turned around and saw how far I had drifted/been pulled after hooking into it. Theyre still around, and very fat!! I would guess that it took the bait about 500 to 600 yards off long beach.

Nice, I went to West haven for about 1.5 hours and didnt get a bite. I know 1.5 hours isnt having patience but once I got there my back really started hurting me for some reason which is an ongoing problem but not to this extent.
