No Name Pond 01/23
Message:
I fished a small no name pond off of the Farmington River in Farmington with jonnyfly00 (aka Jon aka Shelly) from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm. Yes, we fished in the rain and got soaked. It was warm and foggy, and began raining as darkness fell. We saw a lone turkey roosting in a tree nearby. We found four inches of clear ice covered with an inch or more of frozen slush, which melted fast in the rain. We didn't have to drill any holes, because the area had been well trodden by other ice fishermen over the weekend. We didn't set any traps. Jon jigged a horizontal jig of some sort, while I jigged the same fluorescent green perch patterned Hali jig that I used on Sunday. It turns out that it glows in the dark! I baited my jig with waxies and Jon used mealworns. We each jigged up about a dozen small fish. I got sunnies, some of which were so small that they were translucent, crappies, the biggest of which was only nine inches long, a nine inch long yellow perch and, last but not least and best of all, a 10 to 11 inch long white perch. Jon got pretty much the same fish, although he got a few crappies that were probably 10 inches long.
I hope the ice holds up through the rain tonight. I want to get back on it tomorrow. I gotta find me a bass! :D
