Staying Awake trick Paid off
Message:
Seeing the NWS was calling for light rain starting around 2pm and my mom was originally supposed to pick me up at home around 12pm, I decided to do my "stay awake overnight" trick.
After sunrise I was casting at Twin Brooks Park. Some ice had formed overnight but was gone later.
The spot that produced the perch and pickerel Wednesday didn't have any life this time. Lures I played around with were Rapala Husky Jerk, Flat Rap, Original Floater, Shallow Shad Rap, and Jointed Shad Rap. Colors I decided to stay with were bright tiger colors and any sort of shiny pearl silver.
Then when I went to another pond, first cast out with a size 7 bleeding pearl Original Floater, BAM!
I could feel plenty of head shaking and pulling! I start to see a tail splashing on the surface! Landed a healthy 14.5" 1.25 pound brown!

Also caught 2 dinky perch there.
Moved on from pond to pond. Get a text from my mom saying that she wasn't able to pick me up at home so I decided to take it easy and fish with no rush.
Missed out on a chunky yellow and had a few other perch and 1 pickerel follow.
Hit the road right as freezing rain starts falling.
Wednesday while I was casting into the same spot I caught that brown at, I saw what I thought was a pickerel come shooting up for the same lure and hit it before heading back down. I guess what hit it yesterday is what I caught today!
