Early Open Water Pattern
Message:
Within the past 2 weeks, I've noticed some spring pattern going on with fish that prefer the cooler water temps. Perch and pickerel have been having a good time in the open water at Twin Brooks Park chasing and hitting certain Rapalas I throw. Even found 3 baby bluegills in the stomach of a perch I brought home and lots of digested food in the trout I recently caught. Minnow profile lures have been my best ones. Colors have been Firetiger and any types of pearl silvers instead of your usual silver black. With the temps and all the sun the NWS is calling for, I'd concentrate more on open water at smaller lakes and ponds that aren't too deep.

A buddy of mine landed a 15 inch largemouth bass with a Matzuo jerkbait this afternoon. Spring has come early this year.

Wish I could get the early spring luck. I seem to be casting into empty barrels.
