Worst day on the water for the first part
Message:
Went to Squantz yesterday with a friend. We were both on kayaks. and the wind was horrible. I lost three lures due to the wind. A couple other guys were out on John boats and even with their trolling motors said they were ending up in the rocks.
I was using husky jerks which the bass seemed to want bass colored, and perch. I had a couple follows, and had two get off. The wind really kicked up and we gave up when the waves were as high as the side of our kayaks, both sit on tops.
We ended up driving home througfh Ridgefield and had only about an hour and decided to try to salvage the day by hitting a a small area Pierrepont Lake again. We got into the pretty quick especially by the dam there. It was crazy, just about every cast and we had one. The biggest was probably only a touch over a pound.
The funny thing is, they were in more of a spring/summer pattern. They were hitting balck/silver Original Rapalas. They might have hit the husky jerks but they are in a tree up at Squantz. :( There is a lot of muck and weeds so I switched to a weightless Yum Dinger, pumpkin colored, and that was much better as I didnt have to clean the hooks each time.
Again not anything big, but I hadn't seen my friend, who is one of my two best friends since before 5th grade in about two years, so all in all a great day, lost lures, wind, and small fish.
It was interesting to see the fish as I mentioned in that different pattern with the crazy weather.
