DEP Docks (Old Lyme) - 3/24

Decided all these reports of fish all over the river were too plentiful to ignore. Got down there around 11 and set up about 3/4 of the way to the end. Just planning on throwing sandworms on fish-finders, my friend and I casted as far as possible. I started the day with Gami circle octopus hooks for the worms (first time using them ever) and quickly realized they are worthless without a baitholder barb set on the shank. I was getting nibble after nibble for 2+ hrs when I decided to snell some of my 7/0 baitholder hooks I had been using last season for bunker chunks. Largest topped out at 25" and 5 lbs. I forgot how much I love catching striped bass until I pulled that one out of the water! I also can't ignore the end of the day when I returned to the Glastonbury Ferry Landing and hit this 10lb 4oz cat on the leftover sand worms!
