Fire !
Message:
Hi,
Well yesterday, here in Winsted, firefighters from Winsted, Colebrook, New Hartford, and Norfolk responded to a brush fire that burned over 7 acres at the west end of the town.
National Weather Service has a "Red Flag" warning up on the heightened fire danger, for all of New England, because of the continued dry Wx and very low humidity.
Forests and fields are tinder dry!
Besides that -> we need very rain badly -> Rivers and streams up here in the NW corner are running gin clear, quite low, and the fish, I've noticed, are very easily spooked!
Fly fishermen, on the Farmington I've spoken to, are having to cast farther with longer leaders with 6 to 8x tippets to get strikes.
This does not bode well for "Opening Day". :?
Lakes and ponds have yet to recover from lack of run-off and are way below the normal height they should be at.
Could make for difficult boat launchings at some waters.!

There is a little coming next week but far from enough.
Hopefully it'll be enough to at least reduce the chance for some wildfires. Definitely won't eliminate them.
