Calculating The High Tide from Tide Tables
Message:
I was standing on Point Road in Keeney Cove this morning when the water stopped flowing into the cove and hit what I presumed was slack high tide at 9:40 am. I was watching the flow of the water through the culvert that runs under Point Road. However, the tide tables all say that the high tide hit Old Saybrook at 3:36 am. There's no way that it took 6 hours and 4 minutes to hit Keeney Cove after it hit Old Saybrook. I think that it should probably have taken 4 hours and 10 minutes. Could the brisk north wind have had anything to do with it?

A site that links to tide tables for 2008 doesn't answer my question.
