2012 Youth Turkey Hunt recap
Message:
My daughter Kaleigh and I joined a friend and our friends son Jared on the youth hunt this past Saturday and for the long version you can ready my blog post about it here: http://passinthruoutdoors.blogspot.com/2012/04/2012-ct-youth-turkey-hunt-success.html For the short version. Our scouting has shown that the farm has plenty of legal birds to shoot as it is loaded with Jakes and 3 mature toms. My daughter has been watching them for weeks and made a decision to not shoot a Jake, she took one last year and wanted a mature Tom, actually she wanted one bigger then her brother's birds. A doable task, but nothing like putting the pressure on me. We were close enough to Jared to hear him shooting not long after fly down and we could catch a glimpse of a strutting bird in the field, but not close enough to hear JF2 calling or see the action in front of Jared. Jared scored his First, Second and Third turkey of his short turkey hunting career (his first turkey hunt ever) early Saturday and was tagged out and home by 7:30am. Well, we never got a look at one or a chance to work one, but they were there and we had loads of fun watching, taping and taking pictures of those knuckle head Jakes. Here is a picture of one of the Tom's (aka Fingers) Kaleigh was hoping would show up. She took his picture on Sunday after the youth hunt.
