Millstone/Niantic Bay 5-19
Message:
So against my better judgement did some saltwater fishing near the millstone area with one of my buddies on Saturday and launched at Jordan's Cove. I'll be honest, I am not that experienced with saltwater as much as freshwater. To me its hard to "read" the water, and I am never sure what the hell to do. Got there at about 7:30 and fished till about 2ish. The water temp was in the 60" and the sun was out. Light wind and also a bit cool in the higher 60's. Landed 3 Porgies (2 keepers) and 3 skates. I fished a handful of depths, everything was caught on sandworms. I tried used silversides and bunker to try and catch something big but no luck.

Glad you got something, its all how we learn by getting out there and doing it. Wish I could get out there like that! n

How big a boat/motor are you running? That area can be loaded with fish but not always right around Millstone.
1) The outflow itself has stripers and blues. Since you like to freshwater fish just throw plugs right at the areas between the rocks and move out with the current.
2) 2 tree channel has fluke. That is the deeper water just outside Jordan Cove. Grab a fluke rig and some squid and do drifts along that whole area. Niantic Bay holds fluke as well.
3) anchor up near High Rock or Millstone point for porgies. Their numbers will be getting better and better as the year progresses.
4) Smaller boat, troll tube&worm for some nice stripers along the shoreline
Bigger boat, hit bartletts reef with bucktails, jigs, live porgies, etc.
I hope this helps a bit. Good luck
