Saybrook Jetty
Message:
I fished the Saybrook jettys the morning at 5 am. On the west jetty I had a few swirls at my popper but nothing connected . Then a big boy hit my silver popper...game on. A great fight on my trout rod withn 10 lb test. My fingers were getting numb as this fish ran and ran again. I finally saw that it was bluefish and a big one. Got him netted and in the boat. A fat early blue that measured 34 inches and pulled the scale down to about 14 lbs. I'm getting the smoker ready .

Nice... Some of our biggest blues have come early in the season. That must have been a good fight with light gear.
