Subject:
Middlebank Fluking
Message:
Hi there fluke fans...
Went out on the Middlebank with my nephew on Saturday 6/16 for some fluke fishing. We fished the western end of L.I. sound on the L.I. side so the NY regs were in order, so that made for less keepers, the NY regs for fluke in min 19.5 inch and 4 per angler.
Any how we got quite a few fluke between us about a dozen, and the boat as a whole got about 100 or so, the boat wasn't really crowded which was nice only about 30people. Seems like the fluke action is a bit off this year, but it is still early.
Heading back in a few, until then good luck all.

I've been seeing and getting good fluke action at Seaside Park. Going deeper with a plug or a chunk has been getting them. Plenty of sea robins in the mix.
Middleground, New Haven, Bridgeport Harbor, and Norwalk Islands have been good spots. My usual buddy has been hitting some of those areas on another guy's boat with good numbers as for amount. They've been getting shoreline keepers with 1 or 2 18.5"+ in the mix.

I took my father out Sunday for fluke. We put the boat in at Barn Island launch in Stonington and fished Fishers Island sound/Napatree area. We caught a bunch of short fluke 16" and had to settle for some big porgy. The wind initially had given us a good drift and we were picking up fluke but when the tide started moving opposite the wind we were more or less standing still and not covering any ground. Nothing hit any chunks we had out alongside our jigging rods. A few baby seabass mixed in with the porgy. I thought heading east would mean better fluke, however, the catch more or less mirrored what we have been catching around Niantic. Good to hear you guys got some keepers out east! keep up the good reports!
