Connecticut River- ferry park, rocky hill
Message:
Went fishing from the ferry park dock in Rocky Hill. Using only nightcrawlers for bait. Between my 3 friends we probably caught 20 fish in 3 hours. LOTS of small channel catfish and a few perch, white and yellow. Then I saw a man using a strange bait and I asked him what it was. He said it was raw steak and gave me a chunk to use. Within 20 minutes I caught a 2 foot eel, which was very exciting. Overall a good day on the water. Quite a bit of fish but no size to them.

I saw an episode of River Monsters with Jeremy Wade, in which he said that eels are attracted to the scent of blood. The only eel I've seen was caught at Batterson Park Pond while jugging with a nightcrawler on a hook. I'd bet that the nightcrawler was a little bit bloody.

There's a ton of eels in Hamburg Cove too. Last year I was using live bait and caught at least 20 of them...definitely NOT interested in swimming in there LOL
