Norwalk Islands 6/27

Headed out on the boat around 7pm tonight and first went out to Green's Ledge where there were a couple of bunker jumping around and saw my buddy who works at West Marine. Snagged a bunker with a popper somehow, and got nothing else. Headed back through the channel, and saw a big school of bunker jumping in the bay around Sheffield Island, so I headed over and threw the same popper and a decent blue picked it up.

He was 25" and around 8lbs. Followed the school around a little bit more and got a huge hit. He jumped a lot so I thought it was a striper, but it ended up being a 35" 15lb beast.

Everyone says that the bigger ones aren't as good eating, but I just had to bring him home. Ended up being pretty damn tasty after trimming the fatty meat off.
I was using a Pflueger President M/L rod and reel with 25lb PowerPro braided line and an short wire leader attached to a Yo-Zuri Hydro Popper.
