Charles Island 7/3
Message:
Chris and I hit the incoming at the Charles Island Sandbar starting around 8:30pm. We fished it til 11pm.
Weeds were thick on the Stratford side while hardly any on the Gulf Beach side.
Chris played around the Yo Zuri, Red Fin, poppers, and a few others. He lost what seemed to be a dinky fluke on the Red Fin and caught a dinky fluke on the Yo Zuri.
2 lures I stuck with were the FLR-10 and SSR-9. Only thing that happened with the Flat Rap was a fluke hit. Once I switched over to the Shallow Shad Rap and worked it slower than the Flat Rap, I caught a dinky fluke and a taylor about 1 1/2 pounds. Also had many fluke hits on it and 1 hit where the rod bent. Even had what I'm sure was a bluefish come up for the SSR-9 as I took it out of the water. Saw and heard the splash right in front of me.
Plenty of fireworks to watch too.
