I've been fishing the Hous heavily this past week and thought I would take a minute to write a report for anybody who might be interested:

The water last week was very high and very cold, action was slow and the rocks on the sides of the river were dangerous, at best. With the warm weather and a little dryer behavior, the river has come down to acceptable late spring levels, and the banks have dried out a bit, making navigating the shore a little easier. Driftwood and misc. crap floating in the river has also dropped down in the past few days.

With the pickup in temp the Smallmouth have started to bite. They are, as of yesterday at least, biting on Ribbontail plastic worms, and they are getting a little more aggressive. At the beginning of the week, I was consistantly missing fish who were gumming the tails, but never taking the full hook.
I also have been having decent luck fishing weighted tubes in a greenpumpkin/firecracker flavor. These really paid off yesterday with a good half dozen fish, the biggest going about 2.5 pounds coming out of the river just by the Falls Village power plant (just below).

The carp are warming up as well, saw one out in the river flipping yesterday along with three up cruising the shallows as well.

Pike activity is picking up as well, although I have not been specifically targeting them. I saw two pike doing the mating thing yesterday (Swimming about half an inch away from each other up and down the bank) it was actually really cool to see two of them in like convoy moving around. There were a few smaller ones riding around, again all up very close to shore.

With the flow of the river dropping, the sediment has also been starting to fall out a bit and the water is starting to clear up a bit.

Sorry I have no pictures, its the only way I can catch fish Wink Also sorry for not having any trout reports. I've seen some fly guys getting a couple, but they're not my bag.

Hope this helps somebody!

Tight lines.
