I am thinking only the NW corner would be safe this weekend. I fished Winchester last Sunday and it had a solid 15-18inches of ice. I would think Winchester, Park and any other non trout place in that area should be good to go. I also want one more trip before I hang it up...Good luck and be safe!

Winchester and West Twin have always been the 2 lakes I've hit right around ice out.

Nice thing about West Twin around this time of year is largemouths, yellow perch, chain pickerel, and crappie are getting more active and are thick in that lake. I've had some excellent jigging days in early March at West Twin.

Hi,

That's a confusing post Question

The following is taken fron the Angler's Guide !

Winchester and West Twin are both open for fishing.
Park is open.
East twin is stocked, so closed.
Burr is open.
Highland is open, But has a slot limit on trout between March 1 and March 31 only and must be at or over 16 inches.
Wood Creek is open.

Check the Ct. Angler's Guide as it will tell you what waters are open and which are closed.

Best regards,

Bantam I don't know about but am iffy about that lake this time of year.

West Twin is a great place to jig up perch and crappie.

i dunno ' bout the safety of Big Bantam- but Park pond- just a bit further north- will have much cleaner, safer ice this weekend-go past the narrow neck out the launch + out to the 12-15' water to jig up some good perch.

I'll be on Highland at high noon. Gotta burn up some bait from last weekend in WNY.
