PikePersuader - I have been wanting to try Flouro for leaders. I've heard about it before, but wasn't sure how well they work. They must at least get frayed from a fish, then you have to re-tie, right?

Not a pike fisher but i faithfully use fluorocarbon leader for stripers and salmon and for trout... It works wonders. I can throw a line with reg line and the fish see it.. I can throw maxum line and they still see it. use fluorocarbon and all they see is the fly..... enough said on the trout... for the stripers i would say hits increased by 40% using fluorocarbon... And it cost and you have to change it. make sure you dont get the fluoro coated that shit sux ass too... just puts hole in your pocket.. If you havent used it try it. Test it like i did and you wont go back...

yeah that pretty much sums it up, yeah, they do get nicked and frayed, but you definitely get more strikes, its pricey but worth it in my opinion, i use 40 pound flouro for pike, some people use as little as 25, and as much as 60 or 70, i think 40 or 50 is a good medium of strength, low visibility, and not being too stiff to still let your bait swim around freely. I also put barrel swivels on the made leaders and heavy duty snap swivels on the dacron tip up line so if one gets frayed on the ice i can easily change it. no less than 50 pound swivels.
