Hit Bessek lake (spelling may be wrong!) this past weekend with a couple buddies. What a mess it was!! The boat launch is completely unplowed which made it a hassle to get to the lake and fish. But, we made it out.

Between my group we pulled out quite a few pickerel, one perch, and I got a nice 5lb pike. The guy next to us pulled up about a 10lb pike bout an hour before mine. All fish on shiners using tip-ups. The pike was caught with a live shiner on a treble hook with wire leader. Fishing in about 12 feet of water, the bait was only about 5 feet under the ice. Good times but what a mess out there.

BE SAFE WITH ALL THE SNOW ON THE ICE!!

I have pics, but will need to re-size them to post. Everytime I try posting pics here they are FREAKING HUGE! I'll see what I can do.

We were not far from off the boat launch. Walk off the launch, go to the left and set up along that edge of the lake, maybe about 50 feet off shore. From what I was told, the pike cruise along that run by the boat launch up to the point where the cove with the dam is.

only if the meltdown is sudden
although it may be high for a little longer
still I think the meltdown has always been the biggest factor
