Saw someone popped 4-5 test holes on the Broad Brook Mill pond.......Couldnt tell how thick as thay had refrozen....but I would guess 3-4"

1/29/11 hiland lake 6-7" black ice under 5-6" slush ice 3rd bay accross from state launch some slushy spots in middle

Wow Highland has that much ice. I saw 2 guys on there and could see snowmobile tracks from before the rain. But the ice looked a lil sketchy or at least it did at 20 mph as I drove around the lake.

Lakes and ponds I'm interested in knowing about are Dog Pond, Tyler Lake, Black Rock Pond, Twin Lakes, and Highland Lake. Some other places in Litchfield and New Haven Counties would interest me too.

Fished Tyler this morning, fish weren't as cooperative as last weekend but there's still 6" of ice and it was banging away, go figure

Lake Waramaug State Park end:
7-8 beautiful solid
(so long as you stay away from the bubblers).
If the rate of chipping ice from holes can be said to be an indicator, ice was growing all day.

Anyone going ice fishing this weekend. Wondering how much good ice will last.
