Im looking to launch in the CT river this weekend to catch some stripers, anybody have any suggestions on where to launch?

I'd say don't waste your time, the river was already flooded from the snow melt up north and now with this raid today u'd be better off fishing some local lake for stockies this weekend.
In Cromwell the river is up to the road towards the boat launch....

Didn't really think about the snow melt, good call though. Thanks. My mind is a few weeks ahead of mother nature.

If the Connecticut River is anything like the Housatonic River, you should launch way downriver, perhaps at the Baldwin Bridge. If you don't want to brave the currents there, I've found holdovers in the warm water discharge at the power plant in Hartford. You could easily launch a kayak into the cove in front of the power plant from Charter Oak Landing.

| Ct. river is above flood stage, muddy and full of debris. Not a place I would be fishing right now. |

Lots of places to launch around the Middletown area:
- Harbor Park (Wesleyan Crew Boat Ramp) - Free
- River Rd & Eastern Drive Intersection in Middletown - Roadside parking for 2 cars - Launch from the rocky beach
- Cromwell Boat Ramp - launch 200 yards South of the ramp on the beach (ramp & docks are members only)
- Rt 17 near Portland Fair Grounds - 5 free roadside parking spots - carry yak over guardrail and beach launch
- Portland Boat Works Boat Ramp - $5 for kayakers, huge parking lot, paved ramp

I haven't been down to Charter Oak Landing in a while, but the cove in front of the powerplant is fairly well protected from the current in the main channel of the river. It's worth a look if you just need to get on the water somewhere.

I appreciate all the info, I am excited to try waters that are new to me. I've been a lake large mouth bass chaser my whole life. CT River looks like it holds some beautiful fish.

If you can fish in flooded forest, right now, do it. Throw a spinnerbait through the trees.
