Yesterday, asianfisher (aka Billy) texted me that he was fishing at Lake Congamond. When I asked how he was doing, he told me that the police had closed the lake because someone had drowned:

i live in suffield and my mother lives on middle pond. Sad story for such a young kid. The question has come up as to what made him think jumping into the lake was a good idea if he didnt know how to swim...........tragic accident!
wonder if there is really more to the story and he pushed in all in fun. I cant imagine why a kid whom couldnt swim would jump in the water at 1:00am in the middle of the lake in the dark. sad news for suffield.

I would guess alcohol had a place in this accident. Sad to say. If anybody remembers, this was the family that was on home makeover a few years back.

I heard the kids were daring him to jump in, and they said they would jump in after him and get him. When he jumped in, they couldn't find him. Tragic story indeed...
