Recently got my CT license so I decided to do some research on google maps and find a spot to take my yak this morning. Ended up on the farmington, launching next to Bart's Drive In. Managed a 1 pound smallie on a wacky rigged worm. River was a little high and I had a tough time figuring out where to find the fish. Not a bad morning I guess

If the water level is high, you could paddle downriver to the mouth and the Connecticut River. The confluence of the rivers is a nice place to fish.

That depends on the water level. It CAN be tough. I've thought about doing the car shuttle between Bart's in Windsor and the Vibert Road boat launch in South Windsor. Once, I launched at Vibert Road and paddled up to Bart's for lunch. That's probably the best way to be sure you could make it back to your car.
