Used my new kayak for the first time today at Dayton Pond. I started working the shore line around 4:30-5 oclock trying to stick to deep or weeded areas. I didn't find fish until about 5:45 when I hit a fallen tree that always produced bass in the canoe in the past. I had one other hit by a weed bed on the other side on a zoom frog by failed to set the hook. At the tree I caught two quick bass in the exact same spot and those two were my largest.

This one was 2 pounds 5 ounces

Then this one came next which was 3 pounds 1 ounce. He had a nice belly as all the fish do in this pond due to the plethora of natural bait.

Heres another picture of the second one.

All fish came on a green senko with red sparkle. I another nice fish get off a frog by this same tree. I managed 2 more 10-12 inchers before I had to leave at 6:30ish to meet my family at outback. All in all is was a great way to break in the new yak.

We went to Colebrook this time for some SMB action. We had a hoot of a time!

My scale came in on Saturday afternoon. Seems nice, But I am curious on the clip that grabs the fish. The pressure on the spring seems like overkill? I brought it to work and did some checking with the certified weights. Its pretty darn accurate. Within .01 = which is close enough for me. Wink

Where did you get your yak? Post a pic when you can.

My friend just bought that same kayak and he let me try it out when I went on the sound to try for stripers. I absolutely fell in love with it! You have plenty of leg room and it has pretty good stability. Also, the built in rod holders are nice for trolling.

You should have seen Ryan in La Calabaza (aka my Future Beach Trophy 126). Oh, wait, here he is:

That huge thing* between his legs didn't help him to fit in it. Laughing

*tackle box. Wink
