Hey I am looking to go on a Party Boat this weekend, Anybody been on either the HelCat or Middlebank II?

If so which is the better?

Been on the Hellcat a couple times.... Caught an assload of blues but no stripers. Imho blues are fun to catch, they put up a hell of a fight. Just be prepared to lose a lot of tackle if the boat is packed with idiots. Ive seen other people catch striper on there but never any on my own so its really up to you and what you are targeting.

How would i lose tackle that way? If you rent a pole dont you have to pay to get new tackle?

Yes you do....But at like 5 bucks a rig or whatever they charge you it adds up. Also be prepared for line tangles with other anglers.

Bring your own rigs, so u dont have to buy them. If I recall you dont have to pay for wieghts but u have to pay for the actual rig.
If the boat is packed u will need about 10 or so.

What he means by iceholes on the boat is drunken retards and people who dont know how to fish letting these fish take line and they are trying to play them.
Note to self real in the blowfish as fast as u can so it does not tangle with everyones line on the boat.
Also I love the guy that nabs your spot on the boat right after you pull 1 over the side.

Skunked on the MiJoy!

Went out on the Mijoy, with me and my Lady, The trip was nice and all but caught nothing. Mr. PdCrack hit the nail on the head with the line breaks and guys getting tangled with your line. Thank God i didnt lose any rigs. They must make a nice bit of change doing that.

The guys around me must have lost almost a dozen put together. My lady friend lost one. I think a majority of those fishing didnt catch much, i would say that maybe a dozen blues got on the boat(if that, very high estimate) and two stripers.

Last time i went on a party boat, they were using mackerel as bait, on a diamond jig, if i am not mistaken. Blues were almost flying on the boat and they didnt have enough mates to get them.

Thats really unfortunate man!! I remember almost everyone catching a couple when I went....must have been a tough bite. And YES they DO make a TON of money on all the damn tackle you lose. Better luck next time pal... Im hitting the water on sunday for stripers, hopefully ill have some pictures and some nice filets!
