Hopefully, Sunnyside will open up, today, but it was fully locked up, yesterday. There was open water from O'Sullivan's Island up to the dam, but no fish.

Here's what I saw when I got to Sunnyside at 11:40 am on Thursday:

The ramp wasn't plowed:

Here's a panorama from the ramp:

The only open water was by the docks at the marina and it was only open because they put bubblers in the water to keep it moving. Here's a shot of the ramp from 20 feet out in the river:

No, I wasn't standing on ice. I was standing on the river bottom. I've never seen it that low before.

I stopped by the dam yesterday to take a look at water flow and there was nothing going over the top. Not sure how that could be with all the snow melt. When I was up by the Stevenson Dam saw that there was nothing flowing from there either. All this precipitation and no flow to show for it. Once they open up the dam maybe it'll wake up the fish.

Are you going to brave the dam this spring Tom? I don't know if I can deal with those crowds anymore.

I'll be braving the crowds in a few weeks, Jeff. Although in the early Spring I do better down river a bit killing blood worms. I tend to go mid-mornings and avoid the worst of the crowds.

I drove by again today and there was a lot of water flowing over the top.

There's some thick chunks of ice above waiting to come over the top. Be careful!!!!
