Arrived at Birdseye boat launch at 6:15AM.The water was very warm and am guessing in the upper 70's.We headed down river and started trolling perriewinkles on wire around rock pile 7 just up river from Short beach. At 6:45 my grandfather hooked up with an 11.6 lb blue.A
Low tide was due around 11:40. Our next pass by the pile resulted in a double header.I lost mine when it jumped and threw the lure.My gramps landed his second blue at 9.14 lbs.mine was much smaller.
We trolled around the pile and mouth for about 3more hours and both lost 2more each. After another hour we tried to get out and head over to Bridgeport harbor but, found 2-4 foot rollers and white caps just past the gun club.We decided to head up river near route 1 to bunker chunk. Ten minutes after we anchored i hooked up with a little 5 pounder.A few more hours passed without so much as a nibble so we decided to call it a day.We saw NO birds working,NO bunker schools and only a few snappers being caught by shore anglers.Thankfully we brought bunker from last fall.Even though they were old i still managed a small blue.No a striper to be had this trip.Way to go gramps!

That's why he is my teacher! At 92,he hasn't shown me ALL the tricks in his book.I'm happy when he shows me up.keeps me humble and modest. But,i have my days.
How many people still have the opportunity to spend the day with the man who helped build them?

God bless your grandfather at the age of 92! He looks good for his age and have to give him credit for battling the bluefish.

You are a very lucky man to still have him.
