Hi All!

Wanted to get out early today but a maritime consulting job got in the way.

Got to Falls Village at 2:15 this afternoon.
Fished the Dam area with no hits. (Was trying for Pike).
Went below to the power plant and hooked into 2 nice Smallies, each about 2 lbs. on a rattle trap minnow.
First one came in mostly dead weight.
Second one fought and jumped a number of times like a Smallie should.
Both released.
Left at 4:00 and went to Woods Creek to see if I could get into some Crappies.
Nothing!
Great day to be out though!

I was just saying that I need to catch some smallies. Hey, how were you fishing for pike (e.g., live bait, dead bait, artificial bait)?

Hi Phil!

Used big live Golden Shiners under a float about 3 1/2 ft.
Nothing!
Starting to wonder if that big fish kill on the Housy did anything to the Pike?

So I went below the dam and hooked those 2 Smallies.

As usual Mac made friends with the hikers coming by!

Hey Sea Dog- I finally found a place to catch goldies. Turns out that a small pond right near my house has them. Big too. They are not swarming and I have to put the time in to get them but at least some are there. I also catch white suckers and yellow perch, so my bait bucket will now be full of a smorgasborg of pike bait!

Hi Flipper!

Good for you!
A decent Goldie pond is worth the time to find!

I'm going to have to head back to the Housie next year. I had a ball there with my brother in July loading up on some nice sized smallies. I want to paddle it and learn it. Beautiful area out of Cornwall Bridge and I just want to spend some quality time there. Thanks for the report, Sea Dog.

Hey guys, I know its late this year, especially given the rain that has the river way high, but come spring and then the hot weather leave a post about this again. the upper Hous is my old stomping ground (Marc's too) and I'll be happy to put you on to some great places for smallies! I'd tell you now, but I figure everyone will forget come spring. I miss it a lot up there. 4 pound smallies on an ultralight always used to make my day. every day. Just try to avoid the weekends! The river completely changes with tons of fishing pressure.

And do me a favor, if you see anything on the bank that doesn't belong, take it home with you. Never meant to be the hippie hugging the trees, but people leave so much garbage up there it breaks my heart. I used to come home sometimes with garbage bags full of crap. I'd like to be home soon and I sure would appreciate it if someone was looking out for my home stretch in my absence Smile
