Hey guys -

I was wondering if was okay we posted a little about our lines of work here, considering how work has slowed down for most of us, it wouldn't hurt to know what each other did for work.

Let me know if this is acceptable, I don't want to break any unwritten no-nos of forum posting.

I don't see a problem with this. Keep it clean and in the GT forum. I think it would be great if we could help each other out, perhaps even with some discounts for members.

I think thats a cool idea Wishin, guess I'll start. It'd definitely be cool to see what line of work people are in, etc.

Currently I am finishing up work at a company called GBS Group, our main office is in Virginia Beach but I work in southern New Jersey as well as Philadelphia (where i currently live). I work doing project management and perform shipchecks on Army watercraft, inspecting pumps, ballistic material, and other random parts of the ship.

My last day is this Friday, then im taking a couple weeks off before starting my final year at Drexel University as a mechanical engineer.

Good deal....

So I finished my degree in Business Information Systems in May and am currently working for Solution Innovators as their Manager of Business Development. I do some desktop support but also try to help the business grow. They have been a small company (although they have the capabilities of a large one) and have previously only relied on word of mouth for work. So I'm working on getting some marketing out there. We typically work with small to midsized businesses doing specialty or full service IT work.

Our services include being a complete IT department and support for your business, or individual services such as web design, server setup and installation, IT Audits, security services and many, many others. Our website is being re-hauled currently, so it's not much, I'll let you know when it's up.

I talked with the owner we can do return the favor of a referral with 5% of the first 2 years of billable hours.

The company doesn't work with the average homeowner, but I do in my spare time. So if you need help repairing a computer, virus removal etc, let me know

Cool, I hope this helps folks out.

Wishin

First and foremost I am a CT licensed E2 Electrician, but I haven't done that for a living in over 16 years. I do some side work, but not much anymore, I'm too busy to take on any big jobs.

I am the Maintenance Director at "Seabury Meadows Memory Support Center" in Bloomfield, CT. It is mostly an Alzheimers/Dimentia Assisted Living Facility on the "Seabury Retirement Community" Campus, although we do accept a few elderly TBI patients here and there.

I run the Maintenance, Floor Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Laundry depts. I am also in charge of the grounds keeping for and around my building, and run the safety commitee. I am also a CAPS, " Certified Aging In Place Specialist", and perform home inspections for our "Seabury At Home" division, for elderly who want to remain in their homes and receive some services. So you could say I'm pretty well rounded in the building trades, and can fix most anything.

Oh yeah and I fish for money and bragging rights on the side. LOL Laughing Laughing
